Emergency Assistance

  • Gardner Police Department provides emergency assistance to unhoused individuals primarily through a transient fund, which is financed by local churches to cover a one- to two-night hotel stay during critical situations. Contact them by calling the non-emergency dispatch line at (913) 856-7312 or by visiting the lobby of the Gardner Justice Center (16540 Moonlight Road). If it is a life-threatening emergency or dangerous weather crisis, dial 911.
  • For long-term placement and immediate assessment, individuals must undergo triage screening through Johnson County’s coordinated systems. Screening is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM via Catholic Charities (Olathe/Overland Park), the Salvation Army (Olathe), and Johnson County Mental Health (Shawnee).
