Join us for summer intergenerational class for kids of all ages at 10 a.m. each Sunday. Parents, grandparents and friends are welcome. We will all be together to sing, pray, play, create and learn. Each week will stand alone, so come when you are able.
Children’s Christmas Pageant – Sunday morning, December 24, 10 a.m.
We will have a children’s Christmas pageant during worship on Sunday, December 24. It will be one worship service in the morning before our traditional evening service.

The season of Lent is very complex. It falls at the end of winter and on the cusp of Spring, just as we see signs of new life approaching, as the days are lengthening and the temperatures warming. Days are unpredictable as weather, as are the many moods of Lent. Some days somber and serious, with thoughts of repentance and forgiveness. Some days light and hopeful, with themes of possibility and promise. God is with us through it all, pouring out grace, encouraging love.
The focus of Lent is Jesus Christ and drawing closer to God. We sometimes try to focus our days with intentional devotion, study, prayer and service. Some “give up” something for Lent. Others “add” for Lent. Both practices meant to inspire reminders of God’s presence throughout our ordinary days. That is really what it’s all about – God with us in the ordinary. Sometimes Lent is interrupted by Spring break, or work, or important family moments. Even these interruptions are part of the Lenten experience – God with us during all the moments of our lives, whatever happens. Always God is with us.
I invite you to be conscious of God’s presence with you during these forty days of Lent. Each day take time to notice that God is with you, to listen for God’s guidance for that moment, to see God’s grace surrounding you, and to respond to God’s love in any way that inspires you. As each day unfolds, look for God’s gift to you that day. Each day, if you are able, share God’s love in some concrete blessing for those around you. May you receive and share God’s grace this Lenten season.

A new Women’s Bible Study is scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 23 and ending October 28, 2021, at 7:00pm in Fellowship Hall. A Zoom option will also be available. The book is entitled “If You Want to Walk on Water, You Have to Get Out of the Boat” by John Ortberg. Please sign up in the Narthex for your book which will cost $9.00.
As I began studying the scripture for my sermon series on The Lord’s Prayer, I read several commentaries. Several of the books belonged to my mother and had notes written during her study and teaching. I always love finding these inspirations from the past from my parents. I treasured faith conversations with them in life, and these accidental discoveries always bring great blessing. It brings heaven a little closer for a moment. As it is also relevant for the sermon series, I thought I would share a bit of one of the notes from my mother to share her quiet wisdom and faithfulness.
“Presuppositions about Prayer – by Edith Love Young
1. Prayer is answered – some time, some way. Scripture confirms this.
2. Prayer changes – individuals, yes, but also events, circumstances, history.
3. Prayer is grounded in God – sinful humanity cannot bring to bear upon God any promise, pressure, or threat to force God to answer. God answers by God’s own obligation and by Christ’s redemption!
4. Prayer is the Christian’s business – an obligation as necessary as breathing.
5. Prayer has no substitute – it is the power behind all Christian endeavor.
6. Prayer is absolutely necessary. It is the way we can talk to God. We would seize any chance to speak to
a world leader, celebrity, athlete, star – why not THIS chance to talk to God?
7. Prayer is power.
8. Prayer is not burdensome, dull, or difficult.
9. Prayer is work. Discipline, practice, determination to use powerful tool given by God.
10. Prayer is God-Centered.”
There were lots of other notes, but these were the ones easiest to share. As a note to those who have taken a class with me, there were dates in the margins for when my mother taught this class on the Lord’s prayer. For the five verses of the Lord’s prayer, my mother taught twelve lessons over four months. I guess the apple didn’t fall very far from the tree. I may have trouble keeping to just five sermons.
The PYF completed an awesome mission trip to Copperhill, Tennessee in July. Our group completed a work
project, worshiped, and had some fun along the way. We are excited to talk about our experience and how God worked in and through us as we lead worship at a 10am service on Sunday, August 29th. In the meantime, please accept our thanks for the financial support, prayers, and well-wishes that made this adventure possible. We believe you will see how you were alongside us and the impacts you made when you see the presentation. We are anxious to share!
Women’s Fellowship Group will meet on Wednesday July 7, 2021, 10:00 A.M. Our project this month is
cleaning the PW closet in Fellowship Hall. Join us for fellowship and fun. This group meets on the first
Wednesday of each month from March through November in Fellowship Hall and is open to all women of the church. Our purpose is to care and support through fellowship, and to support mission and service projects of the church.
PYF Mission Trip
A small group from the PYF will be participating in a summer mission trip this month. Dave
and Cindy Rollf, Nalleli Rollf, Megan Orozco, Jon Rollf, and Connor Postel will travel to Copperhill, Tennessee
July 10-18 to serve with TEAMeffort. We thank you for your support in the months and even years leading up
to this adventure and look forward to coming home to share the experience with the entire congregation. Please keep us in your prayers during the trip.
