Small Groups
Last August several new Small Groups formed based on interest and times when participants were available. These groups met monthly during the school year, studied and shared together, enjoyed fellowship and grew together in faith. On August 19 at 6:00 p.m. we will hold a reunion potluck for all of the groups together in fellowship hall, along with an invitation for new members to join a group. Everyone is welcome to the potluck and to learn more about the groups forming for this coming school year.
Disciple Groups are designed to help participants grow closer to God and to other participants. Depending on the interest different kinds of groups will form – singles, couples, mixed, different age ranges, day and evening meeting times. But it all depends on you and if enough people sign up to participate. You don’t have to be a church member to join. You do have to commit to participate fully as your group decides. Most groups will meet once a month from September to May – just 9 gatherings of about an hour and a half each. Although you could choose as a group to meet more often.
The point of a Disciple small group is to help you deepen and develop your faith, to help you become a better disciple of Christ and to invite others to do the same. The point is to make important connections. Connecting faith and life – so that everything you do – work, play, family, business, all of life – is set in the context of your faith. Connecting with other Christians – to strengthen your faith and strengthen this faith community, and in order to reach out to others in the world. And most important, connecting with God – becoming aware of God’s presence and power active in your life, listening for God’s will for you, and responding in action, knowing God and experiencing God’s love for you.
These Disciple small groups are an easy organized way to step forward in faith. We will suggest an agenda for the group, and helpful activities, but they will be flexible enough to adjust to your particular interests and styles. Please consider signing up for a Disciple group by calling Pastor Kimby Young. Join us for the informational potluck on August 19 at 6:00 p.m. Even if you don’t join a group it will be a fun fellowship meal together. Everyone is welcome.
