On April 30 we invite you to bike to church or bring your bike to church. At 10:15 a.m., immediately after worship, we will gather outside (weather permitting or in fellowship hall if needed) for a short blessing of our bikes, helmets, pads, tricycles, skateboards, or any other small wheeled vehicle. This is recognition that as the weather warms up, many of us will be outside and traveling around. The blessing will be a prayer to keep us safe and to bring us back safely, as well as a prayer to bless us in our travels and our recreation. You don’t have to bring a bike to participate in the blessing.
In connection with this event, you are invited to ride your bikes to church. You are given permission to dress casually and even wear biking clothes. Many churches designate a day near Earth Day and encourage members to walk or ride bikes to church. It’s a fun way to be environmentally friendly and to think about ways we can make a difference in the world.
