As we begin our 151st year as a church serving God and Gardner, after a quite successful anniversary celebration, I want to focus on the future of the church for a few weeks. How are we called by God to live in the days ahead? Who is God calling us to be and how is God calling us to serve? We will explore these questions in a six week sermon series which I have already started. From my perspective, ten months into serving as your pastor at First Presbyterian Church, here are the calls I am discerning for our life together.
August 21 – Called to Appreciate –I Corinthians 12 and Romans 12 – sharing gifts
August 28 – Called to Serve – James 2:14-18, Matthew 25:31-40 – compassionate action

September 18 – Called to Welcome (share the Good News) – Hebrews 13:2; John 1:43-51; Psalm 46 – authenticity, integrity, openness
